sod's law..♥

Noun 1. Sod's Law - humorous axiom stating that anything that can go wrong will go wrong
Murphy's Law

There have been a few instances in my life when Sod’s Law has applied, but no more so than Monday past, that’s when the law really hit the fan!

It was a bank holiday here, and that usually means a public holiday, but my work decided to open, stating, as I was rudely told, “We are not a bank!” .. well I wasn’t having any of that! I came into work, and after a rather hectic weekend, I decided, half day it is.. and took myself off home at 1pm on Monday :)

Happy days? Well I thought so. I had plans of the cinema, the museum, surprising my partner who didn’t know I was coming home. All in all it was going to be great. Except it wasn’t.

I’d forgotten my wallet, and my cash card, so I’d no money to bring anything nice home. My period started the minute I walked through the front door, which explained the agonising cramps I ended up acquiring on the way home. We were out of milk. The puppy had pee’d EVERYWHERE, and my partner didn’t feel the best.. so all in all, a bit of a crappy start to my wonderful day off.

But never mind, we’ll salvage it! We’ll have a DVD and duvet day! We’ll watch lots of films and eat rubbish [after everything that was needed at the shop was got of course].. but what happened? I fell asleep. And woke at dinner time, when I would have been home from work anyway.. day wasted.

So.. sod’s law anyone? Haha!

27 club..♥

since the death of amy winehouse, i've been reading up about everything, and anything to do with her, and i've stumbled across something really interesting relating to her death.

amy winehouse died at the age of 27, which follows a trend of a lot of other famous people. they have all been catagorized together, in what is known as the 27 club, or the forever 27 club, or more spookily, the 27 curse, as a list of influential musicians who have died at the age of 27!

the club was firstly "created" as such, by the deaths of brian jonesm janis joplin, jimi hendrix, and jim morrison, although kurt kobain was later added when he died in 1994, and obviously now, amy winehouse is to be added to the list. there was some controversy over kirt kobain being added to the list, because it was revealed after his death by his sister that he had dreamed of joining the 27 club!

the curse of 27 is the belief that 27 is an unlucky number and all the musicians and entertainers who have died at that age are believed to have been affected by the curse. the number 27 has been said to "follow" and bring bad luck to people. they see it random times throughout the day, on the clock, on television, in phone numbers, etc, and it is believed that these famous artists who died at this age, would have went through that pattern.

it's quite a strange thing to think about, but no one can deny the strange coinsidences that occur for these musicians. the drinking, the drugs, the strange behaviour, the dramatic love stories between them and the lovers in their life.. it sort of makes you wonder if there was such a thing as the 27 curse, and if it affected all parts of their lives, not only their dying age.

life is so short..♥

not really the ideal topic for a brand new blog, but it's something that has shook me to the very core of my being today. i can't even seem to focus or concentrate, and my entire day has gone by in a blurry of worrying about others closest to me in my life.

this morning on my way to work, i came across a part of the road that had be cordoned off. after asking the police woman what was happening, she explained to me there had been an accident, another 5 minutes down the road, and that it was cordoned off with police tape, but that they would probably let me through [i worked just past the police tape].

i walked on down the road, until i came to the second section of police tape, and i was horrified by what lay before me. there were 3 police cars and about 6 police officers, and an ambulance. and there in the middle of the road was a bicycle, with little dots of red blood scattering the ground around it.

i asked if i was allowed through and i was told no, and after explaining that the police woman on up the road had said i would be allowed through because i worked just over there, past the police tape, i was told that the girl who had been knocked down, had died.. so it was no longer the scene of an  accident, it was a crime scene. so off i went in search of another way to work. i was almost 20 minutes late.

when i got into work i checked the news website, and i found out what had happened. a 30 year old woman had been on her way to work, via bike, and had been run over my a lorry. she was taken to hospital with severe head injuries, but she died later that morning.

but then came the most shocking news of all.. a friend of my bosses who owns a hair salon across the road, came over to say that his CCTV cameras had picked up the accident and the police had been in watching it. the girl had cut up the inside of the lorry to try and go straight on, and must not have seen the lorry indicating left. obviously the lorry driver would not have seen her with his height. the girl tried to cut in front of the lorry, on her bicycle, and the lorry drove straight into her. she was thrown up in the air, and she and the bike landed back onto the ground, only for the lorry to drive over her, and the bike, with both sets of wheels, and apparently it drove right over her skull.

the only saving grace is, despite the fact the poor woman lost her life, was that it was her fault! that poor lorry driver, has to live with the fact he killed someone, for the rest of his life, so atleast he may be able to find some peace knowing it was her fault, and not his, and there was nothing he could have done to stop it.. atleast he doesn't have to go to jail for manslaughter. she's already dead, so no good can come for her, but atleast the lorry driver may be able to get on with his life, if he's able to drown out his personal demons.

it's really got me thinking about the fragility of life, and how easily things are taken away from you.. and how lucky each of us are for still being here today, still standing, no matter what has happened to us. it's things like this that make you realise, you're still breathing, make the most of it.
